My Dome

Possibly the first of the fabled Ross Cole domes to see the light of day.
My dome arrived in December 2005. After much tracking down, the Sydney builders with assistance from our Kiwi counterparts managed to find out what had come of the domes that were produced by Ross In New Zealand before becoming ill and passed away.
These were a 2 layer 1mm thick aluminium dome.
Originally Ross had intended that these be laser cut. I think the dome was designed prior to the R&J however it is remarkably similar. It has a slightly more rounded shape as the R&J has some noticeable changes in curvature along its profile.
We considered having these laser cut but due to the small amount of domes that we had, we felt that it would be too costly to wear the setup cost associated.
Hence, you will find here pictures of my hand cut dome. I tried to be fairly meticulous with the cutting and it took a considerable amount of time doing so much to the horror of my fellow builders who were exposed to endless hours of hacksaw and dremel noise. Sorry guys!
