CuriousMarc Holo Lights

Here are some assembly images for putting together the CuriousMarc Holo Lights Boards from my run. This is just the order in which I assemble the boards and some tricks I use, but falls short on being a tutorial on how to solder.

The tools I used to assemble the boards.. a temperature controlled soldering station, .020 44 rosin core solder, flux pen, solder wick, non-conductive tweezers, magnifying glasses and a working platform

I first place the two dual-pin headers in place on the bottom of the board

Then I take a small section of masking tape and push the pins through it to hold it to the back side of the board when I flip it over

Flip over the board, and solder the pins into place. Make sure the solder flows through the holes since there isn't a lot of the pin that makes it through to the other side

Solder the pins, making sure you have a good, strong connection

Next I add the optoisolator, making sure the alignment dot is in the upper left-hand corner

I then again, apply a small section of masking tape to hold it in place when I flip the board over to solder

Flip the board over and solder the optoisolator in place

Next comes bending and placing the resistors (not soldering yet) starting R1, the 1/4watt resistor.. I'm using a 56 ohms version instead of the 82 ohms from Marc's original parts list, for brightness

Then the R3, the 1K resistor

Followed by R2, the 100K resistor

Then the 0.22uF capacitor (it's not polarized, so the orientation doesn't matter)
