Machined Aluminum knob for use with the 300mm aluminum spun dome. This knob fits the 3/8" hole at the top of the dome and can be painted blue, green, red, etc. depending on which Astromech droid you are building. (Washer in photo NOT included)

No R2 series droid should be without a set of shiny new power couplers! These are CNC machined from 6061 T6 aluminium alloy and disassemble for easy painting. Bolts are included to hold the individual components of each coupler together. Power couplers may be attached directly to the skins or alternatively, bolted directly to the frame thanks to threaded (M4) holes provided on the base (these bolts not provided). Parts from this run are now available. Enough items have been made to cover orders from my original interest list for both those in the first and second batch.

Each port is CNC machined from a solid piece of 6061 T6 aluminium alloy. As much weight as possible has been removed, with weight machined from the rear. They are light! These should accurately fit the inside of the skins.

TIME TO SIGN UP FOR THE NEW COM-8A FRAME RUN********** New Frame Run Now Open: Taking orders now!!!! Don't Delay !!!!______________________ The new COM-8A frame has the latest updates and improvements thus far. This frame is lighter still than the older frames. The biggest change is that the COM-8A frame is fixed in 3 leg mode. Most builders keep their droids in the 3 leg mode. By eliminating the heavy rotation bushings, shoulder bolts , and leg locking plates, I have made the frame even lighter. Now you will be able to remove the legs from the outside, making them quick to take on and off. Just put a quick disconnect there for your electronics and you can have the legs off in a minute...by yourself ! No need to have someone hold a wrench on the nuts anymore ! The second change is the optional Large Data Port is built into the top ring of the frame. Not only will you not need to buy a separate LDP, this design allows for all 6 screws to be used to mount the rockler Bearing. You can always order it with the cutout for the LDP if you still want a separate one from David Shaw. The third change is the new Dome Drive Brackets available in two different motor options. I still have the old standard Pittman Motor bracket, but now also sell one for the more powerful Banebot Motor, with a beefier 1/4 thick O-Ring. The forth change is that all frames will come with the new charging bay included. Also the middle rings are the new two piece design, and have tapped holes for the new mini-bread pan. More aluminum has been removed from the bottom rings to lighten even more. The frames come with either JAG or TWD Skirt standoffs. Your choice of three different popular Battery retaining plates.
